Day six is here and the prompt is beliefs. My beliefs are simple and yet complex.
My beliefs are simple, they can be summed up in the discourse from Matthew 16. A few of those verses are below. Basically, much like Peter, I believe Jesus is the Messiah and the Son of God.
13 When Jesus came to the region of Caesarea Philippi, he asked his disciples, “Who do people say the Son of Man is?”
14 They replied, “Some say John the Baptist; others say Elijah; and still others, Jeremiah or one of the prophets.”
15 “But what about you?” he asked. “Who do you say I am?”
16 Simon Peter answered, “You are the Messiah, the Son of the living God.”
Since we all think in layers of theology, and by that I mean we all are doing something with God – accepting him, denying him, fighting him, obeying him, hating him, loving him…What any one person thinks about God structures their life, thoughts, and actions.
Either Jesus is God or he is not. What I think about this alters how I live. I either accept what he did for me and who he is or not. If not, I am then the god of my life and live it for my glory instead of his.
As much as I fail at following Jesus, obeying him, and letting him and his love flow through me, I do believe he is the Messiah and the Son of God. I will spend the rest of my life in pursuit of living out my faith and knowing him.
If I’m wrong about Jesus, oh well, hopefully, I lived a better life. But if I’m right then I will see him face to face and that is what my hope is built upon.
Blessings to you ~ Carrie
