Grace and peace, friends on this last Monday of January. Wow, this month is flying by and in the midst of its flurry, I found more grace and peace that I ever imagined would transpire. I’m grateful!
Have you ever thought about how friendship is a gift of grace? I’ve been pondering it today {Sunday}. On Saturday we had our friend, Carrie over for dinner and dessert. She is the one we lived with when we returned to Texas in December 2019. We lived with her until the end of September 2020. We shared lots of life, tears, joy, problems, dinners, etc. Heck, we survived and flourished together through the pandemic.
One day, we did a fun and crazy thing when we delivered gifts to her students…in costumes. Because that makes it a little more crazy but a whole lot more fun.
And this is true…however, it wasn’t stupid but maybe a little silly.
As we shared a meal and caught up on life and how the Lord has been faithful to us we had the opportunity to rejoice. We have all gone through so much in the last couple of years and yet we could see the hand of the Lord and his faithfulness. His grace was evident in our lives, especially as we shared life so closely together.
We discussed our gratefulness for all the Lord has done. He didn’t call us to do life alone but in community. Sometimes that is with family or friends that become family. Living under the same roof with people creates a bond that is family and creates bonds that are so strong. Carrie is a friend who loves at all times.
Sometimes friends bring gifts, which Carrie did. These beautiful flowers are a reminder of the beauty and gift of friendship.
The Lord gives good gifts. Sometimes a good gift is a friend…a good friend. For me, that is his grace to me and I find myself overwhelmed with gratitude by the precious gift of friendship.
What about you? How are friends a gift to you?
Have a week of grace & blessings! ~ Carrie

I am visiting such lovely blogs today but sad as so many about friendship and I feel largely friendless having left mine in another country just before lockdown and the maddest of years. Very lovely post though #MischiefandMemories

I consider friends the best thing ever. Seriously. In fact, I used to have a pillow that said, “Friends are the chocolate chips in the cookies of life” Doesn’t that just sum it up perfectly!!

Jodie, I love that! So true! I should have added that my husband wore that Pooh costume all day and drove us around in it. That day is one of my favorite memories ever!

What a lovely post about your friend, Carrie. Looks like yall really know how to have fun. True friends are hard to come by and I can tell you’re really thankful for her.

Carrie sounds like a friend with a huge heart. I seem to have friends for seasons of life rather than lifelong friends. And this season has been almost friendless. When I retired I missed the day-to-day relationships/friendships I had with the teachers I worked with and my precious students. With the pandemic, it has been hard to see folks and build friendships. Had just begun playing pickleball with a group of great gals when everything shut down.
You and Carrie are very blessed to have each other.

What a lovely post! Friends really are gifts aren’t they. Especially during lockdown, when we have to count on messages and virtual calls. Thank you for joining us for #MischiefAndMemories
