Word of the Year: Restore Update
Welcome back, friends to Grace & Gratitude! Last week was crazy for me and I didn’t make it to my blog very much. Life happens and some things inevitably fall to the wayside. Happy to be back with this link-up and a focus on my Word of the Year. I’ll be linking this post up with Lisa Notes on the 21st.
As I have mentioned before in my One Word series, restore covers a lot of ground for me. It involves relationships, finances, dreams, forgotten goals, etc. Today, I want to share about a dream and goal being restored.
In 2019, I began to get serious about becoming a personal trainer and certifying through a health and wellness program. While I was working to complete that program, I had to ask to be released because we were leaving our jobs and relocating to take care of my dad. Since that time, not only did my dream move to the very back burner, but my own health journey was stagnated. Disappointing, but when life is chaotic, one can only manage a few things. Surviving working full-time and the daily routines were about all I had bandwidth to complete each day.
But, life is changing. The chaos has muted and dreams and goals are being revived. I will be building a brand as a wellness practitioner and will be enrolling in a certified program for 8 weeks. When that is complete {and I pass}, I will progress to a holistic wellness certified program. I am so excited to pursue this dream. I am passionate about holistic health for myself and others.
I have created a group on Facebook where I will be sharing information that I am learning and hopefully helping others along the way. If you are interested in following, please let me know in the comments and I will help you get connected.
My husband and I have had quite a few conversations about restoration and our dreams. I am reminded of what the Lord said to the Israelites. Although this is not in context, I tend to focus on the principle of the Lord’s words and why.
Do not be terrified by them, for the Lord your God, who is among you, is a great and awesome God. The Lord your God will drive out those nations before you, little by little. You will not be allowed to eliminate them all at once, or the wild animals will multiply around you. ~ Deuteronomy 7:21-22
Our God is an awesome God. He knows His plan and leads the way. He takes us there little by little so we will walk in faith and trust Him. I’m also reminded to not despise small beginnings, but instead be grateful. These words and principles are encouraging me and helping me to see his grace and be grateful.
How have you seen His grace lately? Has it made you grateful?

Patient waiting for God to make his move is always my toughest spiritual discipline!

Yes often we want the whole, instantly, and God leads us at the right pace, and one step at a time. Blessings to you for holding onto your dream and stepping into it at the right time!

I often find comfort in the verses that many would say only apply to the Israelites in a very specific way. I feel God is speaking directly to me through those verses for my circumstances. When people try to correct me and say “That was a promise to the Israelites, not to you” I usually reply back “Well then why should I read the Bible at all then if I can’t apply it to my life now?” I understand the importance of historical context and I don’t disagree with that at all, but I also believe we can claim God’s promises to the Israelites for ourselves today.

Carrie, I know what it’s like to have to put a dream on the back burner. I’m glad God is opening doors for your dream to be restored. May it all unfold well for you!
I would like to invite you to link up this post at the Tell His Story link up on my site. I think your post would encourage other readers over there.

If I take the time, I see God’s grace on the daily- I mean it truly is more apparent when things happen on a bigger scale…but it’s when I take the time to stop and breathe it all in that I’m most aware. Love your posts so much:)

How very exciting indeed. Glad that you are returning to that dream of 2019 and restoring, realizing it in 2021. So proud of you.
Our lives are still chaotic but when I’ve gotten a few minutes peace, I spent them thinking about where I want to spend this chapter
of life. Where as in doing what…where I want to put my time and energy.
Looking forward to learning more about holistic health as you progress on your journey.

I love catching up with you each month on how God is working through “restore.” It’s such a fascinating word and I love how you’re making these applications. Those verses in Deuteronomy have been favorites of mine the past few years as well. They help me be patient when it takes awhile for something to come to pass. God is clearing out those wild animals first. 🙂 How exciting that you’re restoring your dream of being a wellness practitioner! May God continue to bless your path as you bless others. So glad you link up with our One Word linkup each month!
