The time is here to start the New Year off on the right foot with Currently. This is always one of my favorite posts with Anne in Residence. So let’s get the party started for 2021.
beginning ~ I am beginning to feel as though pieces of my life are coming together. I’m feeling a little more settled after the move into our house. For me, this has been a long time coming and I’m so thankful to be back in a home. It’s a wonderful way to start the New Year with a new beginning.
feeling ~ As the COVID vaccine has begun to be dispersed, I have been feeling overwhelmed with the selfishness and me-first attitude I keep witnessing. The vision that keeps popping into my head is one of the starving people trampling each other to get the last bite of bread. My heart hurts to witness the worst of humanity toward {literally} one’s next-door neighbor.
organizing ~ I’m organizing the house and specifically the kitchen and my closet. Both of these areas bring me great joy. However, I’ve been a little overwhelmed with the amount of clothing I own. Who knew? When most of your clothes are packed away for a year it’s easy to forget what you have or what you don’t. It’s been kinda crazy!
resolving ~ I decided a few years ago to stop resolving because it tended to provide an avenue for me to be consumed with guilt. Instead, I try to work on a few goals and focus on a word. This year my word is restored. I chose this word because I recognize there are places and relationships in my life that need to be revisited and repaired or restored. Not that things will go back to their original status or place, but work toward restoring what can be restored.
wondering ~ I’m wondering about how to execute a trip to see my dad. He’s still in Iowa and in an assisted care center. We weren’t able to make the trip over Christmas because we were moving. Now, it’s winter…which means weather unpredictability. It sounds like their center will getting vaccinations soon and hopefully, that will expand how I can see him face to face and actually hug him. We shall see…I just really miss him and he misses me. Stupid COVID…
Well, friends I hope you have a beautiful day!
with grace ~ Carrie

I hope you work out a way to see your dad soon. You’ve had such a challenging year, so restore sounds like the perfect way to approach 2021! Hang in there!

How wonderful to be starting the year with a chance to get settled into your new place! Hope you will have many happy years there 🙂 And ooh does organizing a kitchen and wardrobe bring me joy too – best part of unpacking by far. Love your word for the year, and hope it’s safe to plan a visit with your dad sooner rather than later.

Your word for the year is lovely! I hope you get to see your Dad soon and good luck organizing your kitchen and wardrobe. I find it very calming when I organize and declutter.

Congrats on your home!! It is beautiful!
And hopefully at least your dad will get the vaccine soon. My mom and dad can get them starting on the 11th and I am so relieved. I will probably in the last wave and I understand that. I am able to stay pretty isolated although it is lonely for us! My son is five and high risk due to Cerebral Palsy so my husband goes to work and that is about it. It’s been a long year.

Love the new house!! Very cozy. Glad it already feels like home. You made a wise choice. I enjoy organizing, too. Must be the teacher in us! Just purged my closet but really need to take a hard look at my shoes and jewelry.
Can relate to wanting to see your father. We were supposed to travel to Ohio and Kentucky to see our mothers in early December and postponed our trip. Hate that we did but it was for the best because Paul’s whole family came down with Covid the week we would have been there. Hope you are able to figure something out soon in the way of a visit.

Loving your word Restore. I usually have a word myself but on top many goals and intentions. If one doesn’t work the other most likely will. HA. Wishing you all the best to get to see your Dad soon.
