Can I start this post with a disclaimer? Well, here it is. I’m not really a book reviewer but I do enjoy sharing what I gain from books I read. How I interact and grow from the words on the page is something I do enjoy sharing. That’s what I’m doing here and I hope it’s helpful to you.
As I started to listen to this book, I had to stop. The author was the narrator and she was way too intense for me. However, I went back to listen again and again because I didn’t want to be a quitter on this book. I walked away with a couple of nuggets. The author was transparent about her drinking problem. She shared the piece of her life as she worked through how to enjoy something without it controlling her and questioning those reasons.
In this book, Dave Rubin, sets out to explain the difference between a classic liberal and a current-day progressive. This was an entertaining and enlightening read.
John Mark Comer just might be my new favorite author. This was the second book I listened to during February authored and read by him. A few things I loved in this book were his explanation about work and what we do with our lives and why it’s important to our humanness. Finding your calling is about finding your voice. I have been trying to find my voice and trust it for a long time. This book helped!
Learning to actually love your neighbor means truly investing in them. I loved the stories of neighborhood neighbors the author loved and invested in their lives. She wrote about not taking offense but instead learning to understand your neighbor. It takes humility to not be offended and learning to love your neighbors. I listened to this book, but I would like to go back and read it.
This book tore me up. Why? Because until Covid all I ever did was hurry and worry about time. I still worry about time and being late but this book helped me identify signs of hurry and how they play out in my life and attitude. Hurry is the great enemy of the spiritual life and my relationship with the Lord. I needed to hear that. I needed to be reminded of it.
I actually listened to two more books, but neither one were “it” for me so I’m not mentioning them here.
What did your reading look like during February? Anything interested or life-changing? Please let me know in the comments.
I hope you have the best day!

You read some thought provoking books last month Carrie! Loving Your Actual Neighbor sounds like a good one, we throw those words around all too often!

What an interesting roundup of reads – I’m not familiar with any of these since I almost exclusively read fiction, but I can see some of these being really informative. And elimination of hurry… that one I would probably find convicting!

That Hurry book sounds interesting and I could probably learn about it! I feel like my life is still quite hectic, maybe even more so with Covid!

I love hearing about the books people read, so thanks for sharing. I’ve seen Don’t Burn This Book on another blog and it does sound fascinating. Glad you had some pretty good reads last month!
