Another Monday and we are still in the midst of the COVID-19 crisis. Who knows how long this will be our reality, therefore we must Bloom Where You’re Planted! Life does not stop because all the shutdowns have become our normal. Life changes ever so quickly!
Y’all, I am trying not to be glued to the news or the stock market. I try to listen to our local and national leaders speak so I am aware of what is expected of me in this crisis. I am not fearful or afraid but I am concerned about the unknown. How long will it last? What will the outcome be for all of us? But I remember I am given today and tomorrow is not promised. My goal for this year was to be present in the moments. Look, I am learning to be present! Of course, this is not the way I would have chosen to be present but I do not get to make these types of choices.
Last week, I was fortunate to have a front-row seat as our local county government revised our Disaster Declaration. My heart goes out even more to our government leadership after spending hours watching, listening to, and participating in the conversations and consideration taken for the actual citizens of our county. Y’all, this is not work for the faint of heart. These people are running on fumes or most likely coffee and carry out. The burden is heavy for those who watch over us. They need our prayers just as much as our people in healthcare.
But God…I wrote about Him last week. He’s still here and the truth is still the same. But God…he is here. He is reminding us that we are our brother’s keeper and we need to put our differences aside and come together to help one another. I’ve seen and heard that people with sewing machines are making masks. Seriously, God bless you! Problem solver! I’ve heard some manufacturing plants might be able to make ventilators. Thank you, Jesus! Problem solver! Y’all I was a history teacher for many years. These are stories I told my students. This is how America won WWII. Americans came together to work together to fight something bigger than themselves and save their country. We can do it again. We can help one another. We can all do something. Me? I’ve decided as long as I’m employed I’m going to frequent those locally owned businesses and tip generously. I’m going to speak words of encouragement as well. Our words can be like hugs!
On another note, I have belly laughed a lot with the FB posts and I thought I would include a few of my favorites. I needed to laugh. It really is good medicine.
Friends, let’s take care of one another. That will look different for each of us. We can all do this together! Bloom where you’re planted!
I hope you have a beautiful week!
Blessings, Carrie

Well, at least we have had some of the greatest memes to come out of this. 🙂 These are some great ones here. We have to laugh when we can. It definitely is gloomy otherwise. I try not to spend too much time listening to the news but I’m drawn to it several times a day anyway.

Hi Carrie, thank you for this uplifting post. I’ve not heard the saying ‘I am given today and tomorrow is not promised’. I’m going to take this with me and keep it as a reminder to be grateful for the now. Even during these difficult times. Keep well and thank you for joining us for the #DreamTeamLinky – our little ray of sunshine.
