Well, I’ve been thinking. I’ve been thinking about words. One word that keeps going through my mind is renewal. The renewal was my word for the year. I didn’t get around to posting about it because I started a new job on January 2 and the following week I got sick. The kind where you wind up in the ER because you’re dehydrated. Yep, that’s the one. And fast on the heels of those events came the news about Mom and cancer that was everywhere in her body. No treatment available to her and she died a short fifteen days later.
Those events plus more made me think that renewal must have been a mistake. I thought I heard the Lord whisper it to me but I through all the junk I thought I must have been wrong. This was the graphic that I never actually shared. But then…
I’ve begun to look at life a little differently. Maybe there is some renewal going on but just not the kind I planned on as I try to perfectly plan out my life, which I know is not reality but I try to hang on to it anyway. Some things most definitely have been renewed or are in the process.
1. My daughter Lindsay moved home to Texas. She had been in Oregon for about eight years. In those years I’ve only seen her a few times. She is living with us and of course, there is an adjustment but she’s home and we are renewing our relationship.
2. My Dad now lives in Texas. I get to see every day. Ok, some days I’m not able to make it over to the apartment at assisted care, but the opportunity is available. I haven’t seen my dad on a regular basis for more than 30 years.
3. My husband and I are trying to plant at a new church. With that my faith is being renewed because there have been many days I have struggled to believe.
4. My passions are being renewed. I recently became a certified coach with FASTer Way to Fat Loss. I am passionate to help others on their journey to a healthy and fit life. No, not a photoshopped model but healthy inside and out.
5. I have had the opportunity to reconnect with family members and friends from home (in Iowa). There is something special about small-town American and for me, it’s especially those ones in Iowa. I adore those people.
Maybe the Lord renews people and lives differently than according to my plan. Just maybe I’m really not in control…
Have a great day, friends!
