Well, just like that the last Wednesday of January has arrived. It sure seems as though this month has flown by and that in itself seems a little unusual. I barely feel as though my person absorbed much this month. Maybe that is because our County is a hub for the Covid vaccine and life has been filled to overflowing with all those details at work. It’s A LOT!
Anyway, it wasn’t that long ago when I first started blogging and style posts were my favorite. I always had a plan and had a blast created these posts. Those days at A Lovely Little Wardrobe seem so long ago. In this moment, I am working to get back on track with style and photography to get back on my style game. I admit I am a work in progress…Progress and not perfection. That is hard for me to accept, but that is my current stage of life. I am working to embrace it and rejoice in it.
I truly love leopard print. Enter my closet and you’ll find shoes, blouses, tops, sweaters, booties and pants in various leopard prints. This tie neck blouse from J. Crew Factory is a new favorite. I love the pink in it which makes it a little fun and unique. I am a huge fan of tie neck blouses too.
I have to admit that I gravitate to leopard in one form or another at least once a week. I think it will continue to be a favorite print in my wardrobe, especially as I have added some different color combinations.
I was thinking about this phrase: “a leopard never changes its spots”. Have you heard it before? Typically it means that it’s impossible for someone to change their character no matter how hard they try. As I have thought about that I think it is possible to change in some ways. For me, I have been spending time each evening journaling and recording three things that I am grateful for that day. What I have found in myself is that I have before thankful and more peaceful. I realize that when I’m not grateful it is because I’m not practicing gratitude and I have an attitude of entitlement. Wow, that is so ugly, isn’t it?
So, can a leopard change its spots? Well, not the ones in my closet but people can change. However, that doesn’t mean they will.
I’m also answering the Hodgepodge questions today and linking up with From This Side of the Pond. Here goes:
1. Have you done more binge-watching this past year than in ‘normal’ years? Any plans to break that habit in 2021? Tell us one or two shows you binged last year that you really liked. ~ Yep! For sure we binged Yellowstone and a series about David Koresh and Waco.
2. January 26th is Australia Day. Have you ever visited or lived in Australia? Have you ever tasted Vegemite, and if so what did you think? Is a trip down under on your bucket list? We answered a question about travel three months ago (the October 21st Hodgepodge), but let’s revisit now…where are you when it comes to planning or even imagining travel this year? ~ Never traveled to Australia or tasted Vegemite. Currently, the only trip I want to take is to Iowa to see my dad.
3. Something that zaps your energy? Something that energizes you? ~ Constant political conversations, the news, and negativity zaps my energy and robs my job. Reading, blogging, talking with friends encourages me.
4. On a scale of 1-10 what are your eating habits like these days? (1=all junk food all the time and 10= juicing every green thing in the frig) The healthiest meal you’ve eaten in the last week or so? ~ I’m striving to get to intermittent fasting and clean food…I’m about at a 7 or 8. The healthiest meal was probably zoodles and turkey meatballs.
5. What’s your most often ‘Back in my day….’ thing to say? ~ Back in the day {a few years ago} I could really lift some heavy weights and was totally in shape.
6. Insert your own random thought here. ~ Well, I want to live in the present with much of the lifestyle I had in the past. That’s not really working so I have to let it go and move on. Sometimes easier said than done. Letting something go involves loss and grief which we all process differently.
Thank you for stopping by today and reading my post. I am so grateful for you, my audience.
~grace & blessings, Carrie

I’ll weigh in on the leopard changing their spots!! I truly believe that we have the power to change our mindset. It may not be easy, but it can be so worth it.
I always love seeing your outfits Carrie, and the smile on your face makes the outfit even prettier!!

Yes, people can change! Not always easy but can be done. That gives us hope!

I enjoy seeing your style. I’ve never been much of a leopard style wearer. (is that a word?)
We hope to get to Iowa this June to see family–a large reunion that we missed in 2020.

I love that saying-progress not perfection. We all need to remember that at times! I love your leopard blouse! Bow tie blouses are so classy and feminine!

I have a lot of leopard that I don’t wear. I know? What? But I do like it. Especially with unexpected colors like your pop of pink. So pretty.

I think you would really rock some leopard!

A couple of years ago I bought a pair of leopard leggings. Not the most flattering thing in my closet but they are definitely fun!

Hi Carrie!
Good seeing you again! I am like you often wearing leopard print and have a fair amount in the closet. Love the top, such warm colors and your suit looks sharp! I answered some of the hodgepodge questions on Leslie’s page. Im watching Bridgerton and Vikings last season. How bout that contrast?
What exhausts me is the news, unending talk about Covid, and I feel more energized during the morning walks and home gym workouts.
thanks for linking!
