It’s Week 3 of 31 Days-31 Ways at Greater than Rubies. There are still so many outfits to create with the pieces I chose from my closet. For real, there are some pieces that I haven’t really touched yet in order to create new outfits. I’m having a blast discovering all I create from so little.
One trick I learned from the Summer Remix came from Valerie at the Style Files. She takes one piece and remixes it to create multiple outfits. You can find a recap of her styles from the Summer Remix here. Using her inspiration, I’m trying to do that little trick again this week. Here my base pieces are a houndstooth skirt and a pair of black/grey pants. There is mostly work wear outfits in this post, so I threw in an extra outfit with boyfriend jeans.
Here’s what I came up with this week from my pieces.
Have a lovely day, friends + a beautiful weekend!

This is so great! I’m so impressed with your pattern mixing – I’m still really new at it and it feels SO challenging to me – but your looks are amazing!

Thanks, Chessa! I am fairly new to pattern-mixing {within the last year} but I really enjoy and have learned how it extends my wardrobe. Hang in there – it gets easier and it worth the extra work. Glad you stopped by!

I have the same houndstooth skirt and polka dot top, and I’ve been thinking of pairing them together. Haven’t been brave enough yet!
Carrie says
You should try it! They really do look great together.
Linlin says
Carrie, I first found you from Alison’s Style Challenge’s. Immediately fell in love with how you styled the outfits. You certainly have an eye for fashion, and creating combinations with in. I have a love for fashion too, but tend to shop to much. Not really creating a mix and match wardrobe. That is my goal! Going to really focus on my closet, like you are, and purge. Trying to stream line to key pieces, and hone my skills to be more creative in making outfit combinations. Going to cheat off you If you don’t mind…. Lol. Thanks for all your help!
Carrie says
That’s great, Linlin! Hope you follow along and we can learn to remix together. So glad you stopped by!
